ANDROID OPERATING SYSTEM
As all we know about the advancement in modern technology especially communication technology. Such as mobile phone, computer, internet etc. these devices has brought a vast change in our life and made us modern able and smart. Here I only take the mobile phone [smart phone] which is the great invention of 21st century.
Many companies prepares their own smart phones and these phones runs on different software but the basic functions are same … latest the software more will be the features and more will be the phone smarter.
Simply the system through which the device software operates is called operating system [OS] of that device.
Such as computers operates on windows OS, Linux OS, Mac OS etc.
Mobile phones operates on Symbian OS e.g. NOKIA, android OS e.g. Google Linux mobiles, I0S e.g. iPhone.
Here I take Android operating system. This OS is released by Google and until today it is continuous updating by Google and use by mobile companies.
Google has announced various versions of this OS and named with various terminologies like GINGERBREAD, ICECREAM SANDWITH, KITKAT, LOLLIPOP, MARSHMALLOW and NOUGAT. each version has its own characteristics and features.
As we know that the man loves with an object which he/she can modify or alter it accord to his behaviors and what he want he can do anything with it without the permission of the builder or manufacturer. AS android OS is that type of OS in which anyone can make changes accord to his behaviors and wishes.
NOW take a new android smart phone which you have opened from the box and you are normally using it as other phones.
FIRST of all if you want to make changes in your phone i.e. you have ice cream sandwich installed in your phone by the company and you want to upgrade it to latest version. OR, modify system file as you want, OR, want latest apps and features THEN you should to break the limitations of the manufacturer this is done by a process called android ROOTING.
WHAT IS ANDROID ROOTING?
A process through which we can break the limitations of android manufacturers and can act as a super user OR developer of that device. Once we rooted the phone then we can do anything in it.this is the first step in android development.
How to Root android?
There are many apps through which we can Root our phone some are given as:
—KINGO ANDROID ROOT
—SRS ROOT
—SUPER ONE CLICK ROOT
Through above apps for PC you can root your smart phone.
NOTE: please read the process of rooting for every app for your phone BY GOOGLING, which one can root your device
choose that one otherwise wrong rooting can BREAK your device. And also note that Rooting will void your warranty
Once you rooted your phone you will see an app named SuperSU in your app drawer .if there the app present then you are lucky buddy now you are the super user of your android device.
If there is no superSU app you have not rooted your phone successfully .if you are still in confusion weather the phone is rooted or not.
Then go to the play store from there download app named ROOTCHECKER BASIC after downloading from play store Run the app it will tell you whether your phone is rooted or not. Now I’m going to a let that your phone is successfully Rooted.
NOW u are the super user of your android smart phone and can modify your system as you want. Now you can run high end apps and programs on your device that require root access.
Second task after rooting is installing CWM recovery. Every android phone has its own recovery installed but it will be not so handy and reliable so we install custom recovery which is CWM. This is very important tool for those who play with
their devices. You must install this tool in order to modify your device.
HOW TO INSTALL CWM RECOVERY
First of all download compatible cwm file for your android. Rename the file as “recovery.img” and put it in your SD card root folder.
Then go to play store and from there download app named Mobile uncle tool. After downloading lunch mobile uncle tool app, there you will see a menu from menu select on “UPDATE RECCOVERY”. It will detect your downloaded file and you will see it on the top of your screen. Just click on it, it will install cwm custom recovery on your phone.
Now you can install various updates e.g. custom ROMS, you can update your android version, installing custom kernels (brain of android) just what you want.
CUSTOM ROMS
ROMS are read only memory of mobile phone OR just we say the software of the mobile phone. Each ROM has its own characteristics and versions and every android phone has a specific ROM installed on it with a specific version.
Let suppose nowadays android 7.0(Nougat) is used by the companies in latest mobile models and u have a phone with android 4.0(ice cream sandwich) u can download android 7.0 ROM for your android phone from any website and just install on your android. Note that each ROM will be in ZIP format.
HOW TO INSTALL ROM ON ANDROID
MUST BEFORE ROM FLASHING:
1. Take Nan droid backup of your current ROM. To do this go to CWM recovery mode, open mobile uncle tools app and go to reboot to recovery .
2. Where select “backup and restore” then select “backup” wait until your backup completes. After this you will see a file with the name “clockwordmode” in your SD card this is the backup file. Note that don’t rename or displace this file.
In order to install ROM on android. Follow procedure
First you must have rooted phone.
Phone must have CWM installed in it.
Then open mobile uncle tools app and go to reboot to recovery.
Note: touch input is not working in CWM, press volume UP and DOWN key to navigate and POWER BUTTON to select.
Navigate into “ install from SD card”
Select “YES”
Wait, so that your ROM installs successfully.
When installation succeed u will see an option “installation from SD card completed”
Then go back and select ‘reboot system”
Your phone will start.
Note: first restarting will take some time, don’t be harsh sit aside and wait until home screen appears.
Congrates now u will feel your phone interface somewhat different from earlier one NOW u can install latest games and app on your phone AND there is no need to buy latest android.
Guy’s sometime ROM installation fails and your phone becomes bricked i.e. your phone is not restarting, or hangs while restarting.
OR you want your old ROM back.
What you have to do now.
Simple, if you remember that you had taken a Nan droid back up and u had a file “clockwordmode” in your SD card.
Just swichoff your phone now hold VOLUME UP & VOLUME DOWN keys at one time. NOW hold power button until screen lights up.it will say reboot to recovery. Just click on yes and you will be on recovery mode
Just select “backup and restore” then “restore” then your file and then YES wait until process completes.
Now your phone is back again.
There is not only ROMS up gradation to mobile, sometime it will be also require to update KERNELS(brain of android) and something more to android but you will have
only to download kernel or other thing from Google and install it as you installed your ROM .
For modification in other system files download Root explorer apps from play store and install them in your phone. After installation open the app it will open the system files of your device. Now modify the files which you want. Remember that don’t delete or exchange any system file without having enough knowledge about them.
